15 YEARS AGO MY SISTER resigned from the World Bank as an agriculture expert - why? Cos NO ONE was interested i what she had to say and what she had to say was "China is buying up vast tracts of American and British farmland through shell companies and if there is a food shortage they will not put the food on the open markets, it will go on ships direct to China to feed their people" AND NO ONE WAS INTERESTED Why was no one interested - cos it counted as "Foreign Direct Investment" and looked good for the political parties. Despite having a PhD in this field, she left it to set up a martial arts school... Why was it mostly the USA and Britain?? Cos the right to land ownership is absolute. You OWN THE SOIL. In most countries, you actually own the RIGHTS to farm the land, you effectively buy a licence and that licence can be revoked if you are not farming the land for the benefit of the country. But in the USA and Britain there is no such obligation. If yo own the land in the USA you can farm it for the benefit of China or any other country.

@zimcoder 100% correct. But two wrongs dont make a right. The World Bank forces 3rd world countries to sell their public utilities to American companies on the cheap in order to re finance loans they cant afford cos the US Fed put up the intere4st rates... Thats BAD [incidentally that basically ended 2 weeks ago as BRICS set up a bank that will allow countries to pay off their US debt and borrow in their own currency at long-term fixed rates.
