  2.  @d4a  - Its a British thing. Many of our best inventors and engineers were actually Scottish, but we claim them as "British" - its to make up for our loss of Empire. Our tragic national need to still feel big and important. You are correct actually - I mean how do you appropriate the technological achievements of Tesla cars??? South African Elon, mostly European and Indian design team, built in the USA. Im sure it has always been a very similar situation - an international effort.
