  2. I DID GEOLOGY for a while at university and an airburst would not cause shocked quartz - air is just way TOO compressable to generate the pressures needed. BUT... Fragments surviving the airburst and hitting the earth would definitely cause it and as they are looking for traces - you only need 1 fragment
