The weaker the U.S. is geopolitically the better

Vance is correct though, it was the U.S. and UK that undermined diplomacy in 2022
19
Lmao no idea why you would think that, were you born yesterday?
17
@pruecook5064 Ukraine should of used diplomacy after they repelled the initial invasion in 2022 and had a good leverage position in negotiations. What Vance leaves out is that the only reason Ukraine couldn't do this was because the US/Europe wouldn't let them.

@adrien5834 No, the fact that you call the Budapest conditions “absurd” when Ukraine is now in a worse position and getting a worse deal is the propaganda. The U.S. forced Ukraine to abandon a peace deal so they could fight a prolonged war with Russia that is now ending with a much worse deal for them.
3
@adrien5834 When you just take in state propaganda during war time as an objective fact for no reason other than “the state said so” there is no argument I can make to you.
2
@davidwong5197 Yes Russia and Zelenskyy both violated the Minsk agreement, there were even times when Zelenskyy tried to enforce the Minsk agreement and Ukrainian nationalists in his military just refused to withdraw weapons from Eastern villages.
2
@adrien5834 You can’t be this naive…do you actually think that if Zelenskyy was pressured into rejecting the peace deal he would come out and publically say it? That isn’t how states and public relations work. Obviously Zelenskyy is going to say whatever he has to say to keep Ukrainian morale high and make himself/his government look strong…

@alextorres8635 If Ukraine hadn’t completely sold out its entire economy, political system and government to the U.S. they wouldn’t be in this position, this is why you don’t make deals with imperialist countries that want to use you as cannon fodder
1
@Luke-pp2lw Because it was there best option, why is it better to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of people in a pointless war to become a U.S. proxy state?
1
@The1TheyCallFoo313 Ukraine completely sold out its country to the U.S. in 2014 and this is the result. Ukraine was caught in a proxy war between 2 imperialist countries, their leaders chose to become US proxies, and this was the result. Ultimately it’s a terrible situation for Ukrainians, their leaders should have taken a deal when they had a chance in 2022 after they had repelled the initial invasion and had good leverage. The U.S. and Europe didn’t let them, Zelenskyy should not have capitulated to the U.S.
1
@iMoD190 The fact that they had just had their attack on Kyiv repelled and reporting at the time said they were close to a deal
1
@davidx9389 The fact that you think that would actually matter in a peace deal is honestly hilarious, do you just accept whatever the Ukrainian government says at face value?
1
@adrien5834 source: “Ukraine and U.S. said so!” Lol
1
@adrien5834 The spring 2022 peace deal had more favorable terms than what Ukraine is going to have to accept now, but it was sabotaged by the U.S. and UK because they wanted to use Ukrainians as cannon fodder to weaken the Russian government
1
@adrien5834 My mistake, I meant Istanbul, not Budapest. And this really isn’t all that controversial, Victoria Nuland herself has admitted in interviews that a Ukraine-Russia peace deal, which was close to being finalized in spring 2022, “fell apart” because US, UK & other Western governments “advised” against it. There were similar mainstream media blackouts of statements by ex-Israeli PM, head of Ukrainian delegation, Ukrainian officials close to Zelensky, ex-German chancellor & Turkish FM that the US & UK blocked the peace deal.
1
@adrien5834 Ok well, now the conditions they will have to settle for are worse because Ukraine is in a worse position. They are going to have to concede more territory to Russia and the US is going to hollow out their economy even worse. This isn’t a Star Wars movie, American pressure rejecting that potential peace deal had real permanent costs for hundreds of thousands of people.
1
@LancesArmorStriking Sure, Zelenskyy could have defied the western powers, but that would also come with consequences. The UK and US would be revoking security assurances, the billions in economic and military aid they were giving to the Ukrainian government would slow down or stop, it’s not like Ukraine was ever in a great position either. There is a reason the pressure works. Basically, when the new Ukrainian government fully aligned itself with the US after Maidan I. 2014, they kind of fully committed down this path, and that happened long before Zelenskyy. The best thing for Ukraine to do would have been to try and play both sides and remain as neutral as possible, but we don’t have a Time Machine.

@sideonsid2885 Victoria Nuland in interviews admits that the Ukraine-Russia peace deal, which was close to being finalized in spring 2022, “fell apart” because US, UK & other Western governments “advised” Zelensky government that it was not “good deal” even though members of Ukrainian delegation stated in recent interviews that this was very good deal, best deal that Ukraine could get & “very real compromise” & that Ukrainian delegation celebrated it with champagne. She basically confirms statements by ex-Israeli PM, head of Ukrainian delegation, Ukrainian officials close to Zelensky, ex-German chancellor & Turkish FM that US & UK blocked this peace deal, which was close to being finalized.

@razorednight We have to live in the real world, in the real world Ukraine was in no position to take back the territories they haven’t been able to control for nearly 10 years before the Russian military was even there. So they should have made a deal, but the U.S. wouldn’t let them.
