The only manipulation that’s happening is right wingers like you looking at short term year over year statistics to create an illusion of a crime wave that doesn’t exist. For example, you will talk about an area where there was 5 murders in one year, then 10 murders the next year and say “OMG the murder rate is increasing by 100%” meanwhile if you look 20 years ago the area will have 100 murders in a year.
