Motor Oil Geek claimed in a show (https://youtu.be/KDWa0DxDGtc?si=GXsKUNzYh7SKQZ_M )(from 6:13) that the bypass valve in the oil filter does not open when the oil is cold, but only if the filter is clogged, because the valve only opens at about 12psi of pressure difference. It is clear here that if the rpm of a cold engine increases enough, high pressure can easily be created that opens the bypass valve.
