i mean if they would not love Linux, they would probably not use it. If you try something and you dislike you go back to the other thing you dislike less.

Windows has winget now and had Chocolatey before though it is not as good as on Linux and Mac

he is crazy
1
the thing is he is also using "Arch Linux" and is falling into the trap of thinking he should do this like some people on Reddit tell him to do things.
1
RMS vision of corporate control is far more wide than "censor a tweet", his vision is that all (distributed) software should be free and you should be allowed to look at the source code, share it and make copies...
1
uh i mean you can customize anything on any distribution technically, you just have less things OOTB on Arch
1
"- If you are a programmer, at some point you would have to use Linux or Mac. " Uh not necessarily, and people may use Linux but not necessarily install a whole Linux desktop
1
what makes you unable to use vim on Windows?
1
"And currently all the games I play work" That's great and that's what people would want to hear rather than "the filesystem is better and faster than crappy NTFS"
1
i did not know that people distrohopped that lot usually i always use a distro for more than 6 months at least

problems with drivers/hardware?
1
also Linux usually don't BSOD but becomes highly unresponsive when the kernel bugs because of a hardware problem...
1
yeah he falled for the Arch Linux trap, and generalizes it unfortunately

what Unix was not made proprietary. It was proprietary. That was the all problem. And it was also very expensive. That's the all thing about GNU. MacOS did not steal anything as far as i am concerned and is UNIX-certified...
1
there is an app store in Gnome, the problem was that it was slow and very buggy, it seems better now
1
"The whole linux package isn't made by some big company that you're paying": Linux is made by the big companies like Red Hat, SUSE, Google, Microsoft, IBM... Sure you're not paying them usually, that does not make it not made by big companies
1
uh you forgot Fedora and OpenSUSE, there are not only Debian and Arch based distros. And Arch is just difficult to install if you follow the guide, i find it just dumb to make it difficult to install to sound cool, but usually people will use archinstall anyway... and pacman has just a strange syntax for no reason. In no way, they are really more "hardcore" than the other
