Maybe "irreversible", but a very long path for sure ... fulfilling the criteria and get approval of all memberstates is not easy to reach!

@barbarauk77 It's about free access to Black Sea! It's about not to be encircled by NATO countries. Russia did nothing against all other NATO enlargements bc they were no existential threats, but Black Sea is a legitimate security concern! Everyone knew this - even former US ambassador to Moscow warned his government several times not to overstretch Russia's concerns. Read former US Presidential counsellor Brzezinski's book of 1997, and you will know Ukraine's role in US Neocon's longterm hegemonial interests ! Weaken Russia and EU ! - You see, everything goes perfect according US plans!
