  3. One thing I'm trying to understand. As he turns left and heads towards the mountainous area, and is still in communication, that was still the correct route right? I'm talking before he reached the mountains at a clearly low altitude. That looks like the road he was talking about merging with visually right before the mountains to his right . Anyone?

  5.  @shooter7a  Basically overshot and either tried to turn around, or get under clouds not realizing where he was, and hit mountianous ground underneath.
