I would say Turkey's interest is to turn Syria into a province of Turkey - and that's why Assad has looked to Iran for support against this pressure. What Assad wants is independence - and Iran guarantees him that. Turkey is the instigator here - and there'd be no civil war in Syria if Assad were Turkey's puppet. This is why Turkey is helping ISIS to conquer Syria. Once ISIS deposes Assad - Turkey and the rest of NATO will oust ISIS - and then Syria will become what Turkey wants it to be. And next - Turkey will turn its attention to Egypt.

First - get out of your head any notion that Ukraine is a unified country. There's a sizable faction that's eager to hand the country over to Putin. Second - get in your head the notion of utter corruption. The pro-Putin faction is a powerful bunch of crooks who want to keep Ukraine as crooked and corrupt as it possibly can.

kadir gultekin ISIS - though - is a puppet that's gone rogue. It's out of control - taking a crazy gamble on becoming the master - praying that Allah will aid its cause in a supernatural way - in reward for following the tenets of Sharia to the demonic letter. There's no more devoutly religious organization on Earth than ISIS. Meanwhile - Obama and other Western globalists badly want an Islamic Caliphate - because this union of Middle East states represents a step toward globalism. And they want it under Turkish control - because Turkey is semi-westernized - unlike Egypt. They want a global gov't with a distinctly Western flavor - these anti-colonial Lefties being the most ambitious imperialists the world has ever known. Iran represents the eastern limit of that Caliphate - and they'd rather not have all the states to west of them unified. Now throw Russia and Iran into the mix - on Iran's side - because of their kneejerk opposition to everything Western - and we got the makings of one gigantic mega-mess - for which Israel will get the blame - when the real instigator is Turkey.

mehmet tafa No - Turkey has a firm foothold in the West. That's Atatürk's legacy - and they still revere him. Turkey wants to be an eastern extension of Europe. And Europe wants Turkey to rule the Middle East as its proxy. As for Egypt - one domino at a time. Turkey and Obama have enough problems for now - trying to enslave Turkey's immediate neighbors ... and Israel.

Nonsense. The pro-Russia faction in Ukraine will neutralize the pro-West faction and gladly hand the country over to Putin - in the same way that Democrats would arrest every Republican leader ahead of an invasion by their beloved Xi.
1
No one cares what they do. They're a basket case either way.
1
But what Russia might do is offer tactical support to Ukraine's pro-Russia faction in a civil war - or force the pro-West faction to surrender without firing a shot.
1
@bvf8611 Well - that I don't know. What I imagine is that the situation right now has gotten untenable for the pro-Russia crooks - and they want a big piece of the pie restored to them ... or with Putin's help they'll just take it all. It must be heart-breaking to be pro-West in the Ukraine. That forward-looking faction has now to realize they'll never win - and Ukraine will always be Russia's poodle. It will always be poor. It will always be corrupt. They might as well give up. No one's coming to save them. It's just a tragic situation. No matter how popular the pro-West outlook gets in the Ukraine - the crooks and their bullying backer won't allow any election to stand that compromises their position. Imagine if there were no Pacific Ocean and China's shore were contiguous with America's. Every day the Democrats would be inviting Xi to invade us - so to force Republicans to make compromises that they otherwise wouldn't have to. It really is as disgusting in the Ukraine as that. : /
1
@bvf8611 Yeah - I don't blame anyone's leaving a country that has no future. If I had money I'd be leaving America!
1
@bvf8611 It is strange. But everything changed here in 1968. And so we're still living this long national nightmare of a Left that has willingly lost its mind - for the sheer hell of it.
1
@bvf8611 Ha! Trump. Oh God - don't get me started on that goof. He's the King of the Stupid - just what no country needs in a cold civil war against evil geniuses. : /
1
What if Russia were to grow up and stop acting crazy?
1
There's no way Putin would attack a unified Ukraine. He's obviously counting on a major segment's welcoming him - in the same way that our Left Coast would welcome an invasion by Xi.
1
That makes no sense.
1
I take it you're a Marxist - and you believe Marxists have never harmed anyone.
1
"The longer Russia waits - the stronger Ukraine gets." Not necessarily! He might be waiting for the pro-Russia faction to take care of most of the resistance for him.
1
@DrRobato That's exactly the kind of information I've been looking for - just what are the relative electoral strengths of these two factions. However - now factor in Russia's being poised to invade if the next election doesn't go its way. How does that swing the vote? Moreover - how does Russia's bold position shape the thinking of pro-West policy-makers - who are now one patriotic step away from spending the rest of their lives in prison? And remember - the West is not coming to help ... except maybe to secure a corridor of escape for these policy-makers.
1
@DrRobato I thank you very much for this information. And of course no one's going to benefit from Russian control but the pro-Russian mob - in the same way that no one benefits from Democrat Party control in America but pro-Democrat oligarchs. This is the way of corruption - of criminal gangs in government. Maybe in the end Putin knows he's beaten and just wants to cause trouble and look good in the eyes of other pro-Russian mobsters in the region. But if he's serious about securing Ukraine and destroying its future - then what's to prevent his doing the same in Lithuania? - since the way you describe Ukraine sounds as pro-West as Lithuania has become.
1
I don't know which I'm more amazed by - the stupidity or the self-assurance.
1
That's not how Russians think. You can't win as a politician in Russia if you're soft on security in even the most far-fetched and ridiculous scenarios.
