Is it possible that the warmer climate during the Pliocene could help create even more tundra bogs as snowfall increases and temperatures are too high for glacial formation thus allowing hopping to be done more easily? It can also be possible that caspian and baikal seal have an old lake or sea region or some otehr behavior that isolated it from interbreeding with wild seals in the region or had gone extinct before the new wild seals take over the arctic thus making their divergent genetics artificially old
