  1. Individuals that live in groups have a better chance of passing their genes along if the group thrives. Sharing food makes the group thrive, the best adapted groups carry those genes forward. Groups of individuals that do not share may have a few well fed members...but the group as a whole is weaker, and the group has a greater chance of death to all it's individuals. Those who share simply get their genes passed along. It is an advantageous trait, selected by evolution. Not a moral decision.
