  2.  @wildkarrde3370  after a "few days" you don't want to put bloated corpses on deck. You would have hundred of sailors commenting on the stench, corroding morale. The sense of smell connects directly to the most primitive reptilian brain, where reason is dead on arrival. If you read or talk to the veterans, mention of the smells pull a dark cloud over their faces. Burial at sea is only done when you are not already in port. By burying these men in Tonga, only a handful of the crew were exposed to (additional) trauma. Easier to manage. Cheers 👍
