  1. 1:24:40 "that is not a good enough story"... this is key. World poverty has declined for over twenty years, but data convinces nobody. Jordan is right... we need better stories, better story-tellers. For the left it is easy to tell a story of despair, horror and threats.

In 1884 Maxim believed that machine guns would make war unthinkable, even some military planners agreed ... and then we had Verdun . Machine guns or Bombs do not, cannot, make peace. MUTUAL ASSURED DESTRUCTION makes peace. When there are no "acceptable losses", no government risks war. Declining populations in the developed world means these governments can no longer risk conventional war either. India and China can see that their own population will peak and decline, so the window of opportunity to wage war will close for them too. It takes very few, relatively cheap, well positioned weapons (not all of them atomic, some are now digital) to make the cost of war unbearable...TO ALL.
