  1. Britain's interest were Empire and Royal Navy dominance. 1- Win or lose, a Germany "at peace" in Europe would be capable of sending troops (more?) overseas to challenge British Empire interests. 2-Germany had not lost the naval race. They just changed it to Uboats.
