It makes sense if you understand that the junta's objective was to secure and remain in power. Taking the islands was just a means to that end. Sending the best troops to the island would (maybe) gain the island but risk loosing power in Buenos Aires.

The graphics team is doing great work. Solid content.

7:50 urban street fighting .... veterans of Stalingrad After something like Stralingrad, we should not talk about these men as "veterans", but "survivors". The horrors they learnt became useful AGAIN , madness!
2
@MarduksSpear I am not making apologies for anyone. I am highlighting the insanity that street fighting became useful AGAIN
2
Yes. And not the only time latAm governments have used wars for internal political purposes. Colombia once tried to take a few small rocks in what is is called the Caldas incident. Peru and Chile beat the drums everytime the economy goes sour, or the miners go on strike. There even was a "football war".

This should be better known

Mustache man: Moscow is a blot on the map Stalingrad: Hold my beer

@MarduksSpear I am not calling them victims. I am calling them survivors. You can assign fault, blame, responsability or what have you on them. That is on you.
1
@MarduksSpear Again. You do you. Do survivors magically become saints? No. And I never said anything remotely like that. Go strawman someone else.

@tavdy79 Tatcher did not make a mistake. She was prunning the budget. Ruthlessly. You are just mind reading if your argument is Tatcher knew how some murderous inmoral argentinian generals would respond. Mind reading is not an argument.
1
@thekaiseroftheeast3895 My support for Tatcher has nothing to do with @tavdy79 mind reading and mental powers to control the argentinian junta. But since you seem to lack arguments, and rather personalize the debate and talk about ME.... yes, I support Tatcher. If she had had four decent general staff, the argentinians would be speaking english by now.

@thekaiseroftheeast3895 mind reading and Tatcher controlling the minds of a military junta in Argentina is an argument? oookeeyyy
1
@thekaiseroftheeast3895 please read his comment. He sayd that Tatcher laid a trap for the argentinian junta. Complete mind reading... and assumes Tatcher wanted and could control the junta
1
@thekaiseroftheeast3895 please go and discuss with him what he "literally" meant, or not. I will not speculate on what other said. If you believe you can lay "bait" without a "trap".. that is on you.
1
@thekaiseroftheeast3895 I am not pretending to know what Tatcher was thinking. Who is?
1
@thekaiseroftheeast3895 you can talk about me all you want. Personalizing the debate does not constitute an argument. My "delusions" are not your concern
1
@HankD13 the junta convinced itself. Britain had no money, but the Falklands are important all the way back to the battle of Coronel, or earlier
1
TFW the Wehrmacht cuts your throat with a knife made from iron you sold them earlier 🤦

how dare the Islanders to vote (repeatedly) against being placed under a killer military junta? They are just mosquitoes that do not know how good citronella is!!
