If the government places no taxes on business, and low taxes on the individuals, then who is in "power" is irrelevant to the common citizen. Elections are important only because there is a large pool of public money to steal, and a large number of thieves trying to get their hands on it. The Singapore government is so efficient that it has become irrelevant: streets are clean, public schools are good, and they do all this with low taxes and little cumbersome regulations to business. Remember the fable about the frogs asking for a king? Well, imagine if after the wood had splashed the frogs were smart enough to say "A king that does nothing is better than a king that abuses power". If you vote for a more "active" government... YOU WILL GET "more government".
