Completely not true. 1) It's taken about a hundred years to get back from extinction to this point. It took protests, civil disobedience and some people even went to prison for it. If you expect the government to do it for you it is finished. The government did everything it could possibly do to kill Welsh. Our grandfathers put in a lot of effort to preserve it - by using it. Schools were brought into existence - not bilingual ones - Welsh language ones. An organisation of children's nurseries was created and a huge and very successful youth movement came into existence. None of those things happened because of the government - it was pushed by people despite very reluctant politicians. The Welsh TV channel was created partly because one man was prepared to hunger strike to death until it was created. 2) Not everyone is bought in. There are plenty that would still like to kill Welsh off entirely - including some of our own people. The Manx people are right though about culture - it's not about language popularity - it comes with a point of view, with traditions and culture that you can't hope to keep without the language.
