  1. "I would like to do a Better Job but my Boss Won't Let Me!" - This is because your "boss" is not a lead dev that could help mentor you. Your boss is probably a washed-up ex-lawyer or grubby salesman that retrained as a "certified master". One does not get delivery bonuses by letting the technical underclass have "refactoring" or "spiking" time. If you can move to an Extreme Programming team and leave that jackass behind. Sadly, this is becoming increasingly difficult to do.

  2.  @christophjahn6678  A valiant attempt but the certified masters will single you out as a rubbish Dev for taking longer. Quality and reliability is taken for granted until it deteriorates to the point that it can’t be any longer.
