So ultraorthodox fanatics make such a large proportion of population there cause they were paying generous sums of money for everyone who has a lot of kids, and guess what - it is fanatics who usually have 7+ kids per family, many of them live only on welfare, fathers are not working. Because of that proportion of fundies in population kept rising. And the more of them, the more conservative voters, cause they have a very consolidated voting strategy. This is the price Israel paid for keeping its birth rate high by supporting fundies. Any fundies are always a danger. Never let them get out of hand. This is a warning story
