  2. We really shouldn't relax about how our unrestricted consumption and reproduction destroys the environment. But yeah, it is not "underpopulation" which is a problem, of course (although I bet Matt and Ben couldn't care less about reproduction of humanity as a whole, they care only about having more white ppl, Christians and Jews)

These guys are just another proof that conservaturds everywhere are just obsessed with making people reproduce more by any means, be it restricting women's rights, homophobia, transphobia etc. Here in Russia the laws banning "lgbt propaganda" and "childfree propaganda" passed our so-called parliament in the same month. Not a coincidence. There are two explanations for such conservative obsession, both of them work in tandem: 1. They always are afraid of the "other", they want their in-group to always "out-breed" the out-groups. 2. The basis for any conservative beliefs including all religions on the world, formed during the long period of history when mortality, especially child mortality, was insanely high, so fertility should have been as high as possible for populations to not disappear. All cultural norms of the past formed based on that. Taboo for contraception which existed for a long time, included. Our cultures are still widely influenced by those extreme pro-natalist norms. But conservative ideology especially, because they always look into the past for guidance
