Regular, not groundbreaking research is just as good of a "return" as groundbreaking one. So the returns aren't really diminishing. And nothing can grow in accelerated way forever, nothing can develop faster and faster in real world forever. Science and technology is no exception

It is a society in general and pervasive gender roles which make it hard for women to have kids (family =/= kids, family can be without kids, don't use those words interchangeably) and career in science. Because society expects a woman to be a primary caregiver just because she is a woman, her own family expects that etc. Men can see their kids 2 hours a day and barely care for them and still be considered a good father. So they can spend 10 hours a day working in a lab and everyone will see it as fine. Women are criticised if they don't sacrifice absolutely everything for the kids and often even if they do. It is the double standards for men and women which create this difficulty.

Modern bacteria are super complex. i am a microbiologist, so I kind of know it Their ancestors evolved for as long as ours, for >3.5 billion years, just increased complexity within one cell, instead of multiple. Out of 8 basic variants of metabolism, 6 are found only in prokaryotes. And you tell me they aren't complex? The first cell should have been much simpler than any modern bacteria. But such simple life of course couldn't survive 3.5 billion years arms race without changing

It is also wonderful how close he comes to conclusion that justice system should be based on consept of rehabilitation and not concept of punishment, and then immediately rejects it 🤦‍♀ Yeah evidence proves that systems based on rehabilitation like in Scandinavia, work much better. Less people commit crimes again after the prison than in the countries where justice system is based on punishment

He probably created trillions of species in most galaxies, to see which one do better. He wouldn't bother with personal lives of members of only one such species, or any single one of such species. While human religions describe a supposed god which constantly bothers himself with our little problems. This is inconsistent with fact of how large the universe is. Its creator wouldn't behave like pathetic, angry, jealous god of the Old testament, that is for sure
