Nobel prizes are almost always given to heads of research groups, even if most real work is done by students, postdocs etc. So yeah Nobel Prize is an outdated way to recognise best scientists and their work. One or several individuals don't do all the research anymore, in our times it is mostly huge research groups. There are a lot of rules that have to change
