Not only in the modern society people who are less intelligent can be as successful as more intelligent ones, actually less intelligent people are more evolutionary successful now. They tend to breed more, and in many complex skcieties ruling elite actually doesnt want people to be smart, they encourage ones who are silly enough to follow any of elite's rules and orders. And smart ones, who see the corrupt elite and its real aims, are "dissidents", which have usually a bad fate. Thus, since birth of complex societies intelligence could really decrease. As a hunter-gatherer peson has to do multiple tasks, otherwise he would be dead. In complex societies each person can specialise on one specific task, so even people who are not intelligent enough to do multiple tasks, still can live and breed successfully. Plus modern medicine allows people with mutations to survive and breed. Plus ruling elite, including government and churches, encourages stupid sheepy followers to breed more, and suppresses free thought of smarter individuals.

for me as Russian, all anti-Russian sentiments are getting annoying. yes, I think there was too much money for olympics, and because of corruption. and I am against violations of human rights... but, believe me, reading much western press and comments, I realised, that this "critics" go usually far beyond something reasonable. it really looks like some people hate Russia and want to find anything to hate it more. the same things, for which our country is criticised much, other countries are not criticised. much spending, corruption and bad preparation for sports event? then, wait for championship in Brasil... violation of gay rights? not so much, comparing with >80 countries, where being a gay is a legal crime and one can be put to prison or executed for it... killing of street dogs? happens in other East European countries also... if western media did only reasonable critics, they would also pay attention to those facts...

Ah, moralism! "You shouldnt have a great career if you act shitty". What? If person works towards his goal and improving his career, he can rightfully have a good career. Remember, Newton was unpleasant person, but he was good scientist, and he had good scientific career because of that, and we remember him rightfully as good scientist. And what about crime... Well, I obviously dont think that if person commits crime, we should then remind him of that every time, deny him rights to pursue a career etc. He got proper punishment for crime - done. As long as he doesnt repeat a crime, leave him alone, let him proceed with his life again. And I would understand if Australia denied immigration visa to someone who has done that, but they want to restrict even people who want to travel there. In fact, they already have very restrictive policy for tourists from non-western countries. That is too much, in my opinion
