  2. ​ @ExploreVanIsle  the point isn't determinism on a basic physical level. The point is Turing machines can do a much more restricted amount of types of operations than animal brains. Those operations they do they do very quickly, but some types of operations they can't do at all. Also, subjective experience. It comes from physical processes within a brain, but can't be reduced to those processes. I am not convinced computers can have any subjective experience. Determinism or no determinism it doesn't change the fact that computer and animal brain are two functionally different systems capable of different types of processes

  5. But in the real world they will be just algorithms with no true subjective experience or self awareness. So that is even worse. We are giving up our civilization for mindless algorithms
