Then, I guess his existential anxiety driven brain decided that Kurzweil is unlikely to live to 2045, since he was born in 1948, and thus no brain uploading for him, hence the new date 2029 was born, and Kurzweil's conscious mind was happy to post-factum rationalize this anxiety-driven idea
