Yeah, there are biologists which propose that viruses evolved capsids and cells evolved ribosomes, and that is their true difference, before that they could have a common ancestor. And maybe first viruses could live by themselves in very specific niches, but were outcompeted by cells, so parasitic niche was just the only left for them.
Also, I like to say plastids which retain DNA, membrane and their own ribosomes are still cyanobacteria, despite also being organelles. They haven't fully lost their identity. There are many endosymbiotic bacteria which also can't live without a host and also influence its life cycle and metabolism, yet they are considered bacteria, not organelles, while plastids are denied that, just because of traditional views
