I am Russian from Karelian Isthmus with Polish ancestry 😂😂😂 Also, isn't it hypocrisy when some Finns condemn Putin for attempting to gain back land in Ukraine which was previously part of Russia/USSR, but themselves want back Karelian Isthmus (not to be confused with republic of Karelia, eastern Karelia was never part of Finland)? If someone respects international law, they should respect it always. If Crimea is part of Ukraine by international law, and all normal people respect that, we should also respect that Karelian Isthmus is part of Russian Federation by same law

  9. I think you only forget it if you don't use it at all for a very long time meaning you have noone close enough to you that you want to have contact with them, who speaks only that language. Like if some of your family members pass away, others just move abroad with you and you can speak another language with them. And there are only very distant relatives left back home whom you have no interest in anyway

  10. ​ @marcinkrz3140 that was hardly communism though. Even USSR didn't claim they had communism, but instead that they "were trying to build it". Which was a lie too. And yeah I am from Russia, so I know Soviet system was shitty. I just don't get it why people think that they were truly socialist or communist. Totalitarian regimes lie, you know. North Korea says it is a democracy 😂

  13. My mom has been smoking since she was 19, now she is 72 and still smokes. She didn't smoke when pregnant, and breasfeeding but then returned right back to it. Even after she had a heart attack years ago she couldn't quit smoking, just reduced the amount she smoked. I am from Russia.

  16. ​​​ @player1_fanatic  the only racism of hatred. There is also racism of ignorance, and when it comes to that, all Eastern and Central Europe is very racist towards most non-European cultures. Basically people still believe colonial era lies about non-European colonized people that western or Russian colonizers of those people told about them. Simple ignorance. Like exaggerating amount of cannibalism in pre-colonial Africa (it was actually very rare). Or not realising how cruel, violent and savage colonizers themselves were, much more so than the colonized, and indigenous people everywhere were just resisting invasion, so any cruelty from them was at least somewhat for a reason.

  18. ​​​​ @qjtvaddict  ethnic minorities from Caucasus, unlike most other ethnic minorities in Russia, don't truly assimilate into Russian culture, they retain their language and culture. That makes ethnic Russians angry, because most people here are subconsciously falling into imperialist nationalist ideas, meaning they tend to view ethnic minorities, and also other former USSR countries as inferior. They themselves often don't realise what's wrong with their views and where they come from. It is a lot to unpack, impossible in one comment. I have analysed behaviour and beliefs of people around many times, and it is still wild to me. And of course they will excuse their prejudice with ideas of some ethnic groups "commiting more crime" which often isn't based on any evidence just the fact that they notice crime commited by ethnic minorities more easily, just like any person who is prejudiced against "others" is more likely to notice wrongdoings made by those "others" than by the in-group members. This is how human brain works.

  19. I already am! I love Poland and hate Putin. The fact that Putin returned to imperialist ambitions of RE and USSR is very bad for Russia and a source of poverty for the people. Imperialism always brings only bad consequences to the majority of population. Anyone who supports imperialism in Russia is d*mb

  24. Here in Russia most people are very racist towards everyone. I am ethnic Russian and most ethnic Russians are at least a bit prejudiced against every other ethnic group. That includes superiority complex towards ethnic minorities (some people see no problem with saying that ethnic minorities should just stay in their own region while ethnic Russians can live everywhere in Russia, they don't see how that's discriminatory, or notably racist refusal to rent to "non-Slavs" which affects Russian citizens of ethnic minority groups just as much as immigrants). There is also a racism of ignorance towards most non-European cultures just like everywhere (basically belief of colonial era lies about colonized people, like exaggerating the prevalence of cannibalism, not realising that colonisers were more cruel and violent than the colonised etc). Most ethnic Russians suffer from imperialist form of nationalism. Meaning they are very unwilling to let go of any conquered land (sometimes including occupied Ukrainian territories) but unwilling to give actually equal rights to ethnic minorities, their language and culture. As I have already said, some even believe that it is ok that ethnic minorities are more restricted in their movement in the country, than ethnic Russians, not by law, but by discrimination, like refusing them rent and employment
