Teaching anyone, boys or girls that they can do absolutely everything is a mistake, cause first, some things they will not be able to do and achieve, second, doing some things can harm others. Get down to Earth. Nobody is teaching girls that their possibilities are endless, because nobody is teaching boys that idea either! Because the idea is stupid and unrealistic. Humans in general cannot do "everything", not to say about any particular person. We MUST teach girls and boys to be humble, not overly ambitious

They are very active in comment sections under Russian language videos which criticize the government, for example

But how race is usually classified is a mistake for sure: in US even person with much less than 50% of African DNA will be considered "black", and given medicines for blacks, even though probably, genetically he or she can be more European than African

  18. Imagine if the 100 largest corporations stopped polluting the planet, we wouldn't even have to plant more trees! Also, in order to uno-reverse the climate effect of the emissions, which are done, you would need to plant ALL the land area of the planet in trees.. in several layers of trees!

Actually as a descendant of Russian peasants (rather close one, my greatgrandparents - 3 generations back - were peasants, could not read and write even), I can say they did not need to be logical in everything to survive, they needed just to learn how to work very hard from their parents, then work hard whole their lives and teach their kids to do the same. They did not have time to think too much about what is logical, what is not (beyond the need of growing enough in the summer to last for the next year, but that is rather narrow area of expertise)

Saying it so people don't have an illusion that planting trees alone can solve that particular problem. It will solve some other problems though. Although the best is to let the natural forest re-grow. Planted forest usually has small biodiversity of plants, but the re-growth from remaining natural forest has much higher biodiversity. So it should be preferable strategy

  39. Actually there is no single way of being "life smart". If my greatgrandparents did good as subsistence farming, that does not mean they would be good in modern post-industrial society. Probably they would be at the bottom, in fact, cause they could not read and write (simply never learned that), and that is essential skill in any part of modern life. Actually in the very ancient times probably readin and writing was considered something which only makes you "book smart" and was useless for majority of people, but nowadays it is necessary for being "life smart"

My own greatgrandparents were peasants and could not read and write, while I have Master's degree, and know English as a foreign language, learned to play piano (don't practice much though) and many different other things. Personal examples are different both from each other and from general tendency

  47. Normal species don't push boundaries, they take their fair share. And species which take more, go extinct after destroying their own ecosystem. How did that work here on Earth? Degradation and mass extinction. Is that thriving? No species can survive without ecosystem to live in, and no ecosystem will thrive when one of species consumes 1/3 of primary production, and pollutes the rest
