  2.  @Karmotrine-Free  wrong. Most of them were not killed, but incorporated into casta system of the colonies. Some Mexica aristocrats even married Spanish aristocrats, and moved to Spain. Most Mexicans today do have indigenous ancestry. However, considering the number of indigenous groups in Mexico, most people, who think they descend from Aztecs, actually descend from other ethnicities.

As an outsider, what I gathered, the attitude of whites in SA during apartheid towards the regime was not strictly correlated with ethnicity
