  1. What about missing middle? Many people would live in a 4-storey apartment building in an apartment, if such buildings existed. But if the choice is either suburban house or apartment in a giant tower, in which prices are also very high, then they choose a house

  2. If someone doesn't want something built on their property, they are justified, if that's just something close to their property, they have no right to tell other people what to build. How is that controversial?

  3.  @sownheard  then the government should not only take, but also should just give property to those who actually need it. That is what USSR government did. My parents still live in an apartment which was just given to my grandparents for working in a factory and on a railway, and then later it was privatised in the 90s. Same with land, on which our summer house stands. In northwest Russia
