  6. There was also extreme volcanism in Deccan traps lasting for hundreds of thousands of years before and after the asteroid, that amplified the effect from climatic change significantly. Some animals happened to be better to adapting and some worse. Most lineages of dinosaurs didn't manage to adapt to all that change
