Any hereditary hierarchy is yikes. Royalty is no more but the symbol of "tradition". But what is tradition and traditionalism? A fancy way of saying "we should keep the status quo as it is just because it was like that for a long time". It is an idea promoted by those, who economically and socially benefit from status quo staying as it is. As long as at the top of the society there is an institution, which is a symbol of blind traditionalism, the true change will be severely limited. The biggest changes always came after challenging the previous power structure and extent of power of monarchy, for example, after the Glorious revolution in England or French Revolution in France
