@Admin-gm3lc we are poorer than middle class and we have dacha. 20 min from our apartment as well. We didn't buy it, my grandfather received a piece of land in 1970s, built everything, and my mom privatised it in 1990s. House is unliveable except in summer though, it gets cold, and WC is outside, but we don't have to live there all the time, so no problem really. I am from small town on Karelian Isthmus between Saint Petersburg and Finnish border though. Many people from Moscow have their dachas like 200+ km away from their city apartments, so they have to make it possible to stay there for a long time, because they cannot just go for several hours.

@sjbock some are buying them, and very actively, but to buy one you actually have to have a solid income, to inherit one is much easier

It is significantly less common in Russia than in English speaking countries. I for example never heard about my ancestors prior to greatgrandparents, and finding information would be hard. Much should have been lost during world wars, civil war, plus most my greatgrandparents and earlier family members were illiterate and barely had any documents, and that is true for many Russian people
