If your parents demand paying rent from you, they have a screwed idea of what it is to be a parent and how to treat children (even grown up ones). Surely, I see with such screwed ideas about how family members should interact, why someone would say American families are fragmented. I live in Russia and here it won't even appear for any parents to not welcome their grown up kids back or to demand rent from them. If I said to my parents I would be helping them to pay stuff, if I moved back, they would be grateful but they would never demand me to pay a certain percentage of bills

Also I wonder if we criticized people with genetic disease and inherited disabilities reproducing we would be "called" ableist" and dismissed, even though many of those have bigger risks to children than cousin marriage.
