  1. That is the only way to study them, literally. Also, the point of biology is studying life on Earth with all of its unusual characteristics. I'd say any virus or microbe that can still be alive after 50 k years is an interesting object of study anyway. People who believe that science exists for practical reasons are hilarious lol I am a researcher myself.
