  1. USA only was so "good" after ww2, and only because it was the only developed nation that survived ww2 without being largely destroyed. Europe was in ruins, so was Japan so was USSR. They had decades of catching up to do while 'Murica was growing its wealth even during the war, not to mention right after. But at its core it was always a country of puritans and other fringe religious fanatics wgo ran away from evil progressive changes happening in Europe in different time periods, settled on land stolen by the army from indigenous people, and obsessed about religion for centuries. Even in the late 20th century the streak of anti-intellectualism was not wiped out from America, despite its scientific institutions becoming the best in the world.
