  1. 4:08 - Plants avoid green light, because it is the most abundant light in solar spectrum. And too much light absorbed means too much excitation of electrons in chlorophyll in photosystems, and because chemical processes of photosynthesis won't manage to absorb all that excitation in time, it will go and form oxygen radicals, which damage tissues like crazy. Plants want to avoid that, surprise surprise. So they avoid absorbing too much light! Algae which grow deep in the water, like red algae, have no problem absorbing green light. Phycoerythrin, red pigment does it very well. And cyanobacteria absorb light of every wavelength from blue to far-red, and they modify ratios of different pigments depending in light conditions. I study photosynthesis (a bit). So I am tired of misconceptions about it
