In reality it hardly is. Getting away from problems is not solving them. And most of people here are pretty naive. Space is enormous, and mostly empty, the concentration of any resources there is not that huge, like concentration of atoms of gold in the Pacific Ocean. Even getting to an asteroid and transporting stuff back, or getting it close to us would cost more than its resources. Before some unexpected breakthrough in tech, we can't expect it to be viable. Plus we don't have mineral resource shortage on Earth, we throw away many of resources, because we use things for a short period of time, and then they turn into trash (planned obsolescence) and because we don't yet recycle most of our trash. Our resources are in our landfills! You don't need to go far away! And most valuable resources are biological anyway, the ones which exist only on Earth, and are very unlikely to exist anywhere else in the Solar system in a big amount anytime soon. Don't be delusional about space people, that makes you look like easily impressionable kindergarten kids rather than thinking adults
