Surprise, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated in America and all over the world as a celebration of all things Irish. How was St. George’s Day celebrated until 8-10 years ago? Explain please! Nowadays, it has become a day for right-wingers to wave flags and express resentment and victimhood. Moaning about how flags can’t be waved, and a nostalgia for a time when Britain was an Empire, when “we” were respected by black, and brown people. So is this the same for David, Andrew, and Patrick's days? The displays on St George’s Day of patriotism come across as excessive, self-centred, or demanding. People on GB News bemoaning that their privileges solely based on their national identity are being taken away. They are using patriotism as a means to assert superiority over others. It could also encompass situations where displays of patriotism are used to justify actions that may be harmful or discriminatory towards certain groups or individuals. Essentially, it's when patriotism crosses the line into arrogance or entitlement.
