There used to be scrutiny in the press of the press of the neglect of the NHS: the Daily Mirror in the 1980's used to hold the government to account. Now the client media ignores the NHS, and as a result, the government can transfer vasts amounts of wealth to its patrons as it did during the Covid pandemic, thereby starving it of resources and leaving frontline health professionals picking up the pieces. Now is the time to reflect on the endemic problems of the NHS not because of a failure of reporting in one hospital, but a national draining of resources due to neglect by government and its donors that have vested interests in its decline and the increase in private health provision .
