I am more interested what the teacher said to make the class feel ashamed to be English. But it didn't happen, did it? All in the machinations of a dopey culture-warrior with an agenda!

@ladydiva295 "Teaching equality, diversity, and a nuanced view of British history isn't about running down Britain or making anyone ashamed. It's about providing students with a well-rounded education that reflects the complexities of our society and history. These teachers are not a 'scourge'—they are dedicated professionals shaping young minds to be critical thinkers and empathetic individuals. Embracing diversity and understanding our past in all its facets strengthens our national identity and prepares us for a more inclusive future. Instead of seeking to silence educators, let's celebrate their efforts to foster understanding and respect among our children. Education should empower, not divide. Together, let's support teachers who inspire curiosity and compassion in the classroom."

Gillian Duffy asked about immigrants from Eastern Europe: "where are they flocking from?" Gordon misheard "flocking from".

How do you want the world to pay gratitude to England and GB?

@manchesterlass600 If this story is true, then we have to get it straight from the horses mouth.

@showyourworkingout2023 It irks you that people don't pay gratitude. Now when was the last time you went to the British Museum? There are many artefacts that were "appropriated" by the British, and have a huge cultural meaning to those countries they were stolen from. These include the Elgin (Parthenon) Marbles, the Rosetta Stone, Benin Bronzes, Maori Taonga, Ethiopian Tabots. As for slavery, sure GB made a massive contribution to ending slavery with the Abolitionist Movement, yet there were also those that pressure groups to continue slavery, including the slave traders themselves. Cities like Liverpool and Bristol were major centres of the British slave trade. Merchants and traders in these cities profited immensely from the trafficking of enslaved Africans and were vocal opponents of abolition. They argued that the slave trade was essential for the economic prosperity of their ports and the nation. Explain why it is wrong that history includes both sides. Why does it threaten your sense of identity?

The United Kingdom ranks relatively high in terms of tolerance and inclusiveness, even though it does rank as high as you seem to think. According to the Social Progress Index for 2024, the UK ranks 67th overall, which indicates a strong performance in various social progress metrics, including personal rights, access to advanced education, and inclusiveness

@johnevans950 Such is your reactionary disdain for progress, and freedom.
