You're quoting a 2016 essay that was designed as a thought experiment exploring what life might look like in 2030 if we maximized on-demand services, similar to Uber. The purpose of the piece was to provoke thinking about potential outcomes, both positive and negative, of a sharing-based economy - not to predict a government-mandated dystopia where everyone is stripped of their belongings.

@PostureKing_ While I understand the concern, it’s important to reiterate that Auken’s 2016 essay was written as a speculative thought experiment meant to provoke discussion, not as a manifesto for a future world order. Auken herself has even clarified since then that the piece doesn’t reflect her actual views on what society should look like. The line “you’ll own nothing and be happy” is often taken out of context and was never meant as a serious directive. In Auken’s hypothetical scenario, she explored possibilities that might emerge with advancements in technology and shifts in social priorities, sparking debate on what we value and how we want to live. Yes, there’s increasing discussion on corporate power and government involvement, and those are worth examining. However, taking a fictional thought piece as evidence of a plot to “centralise control” misses both the writer's intent and the nuanced conversation around these topics. This isn’t a call for world domination – it’s an invitation to think about future possibilities and what we would or wouldn’t accept.

The impact of Brexit on road haulage businesses has surely been greater than anything introduced by the Labour government. Leaving the EU brought in customs checks, paperwork, and border delays that companies didn’t face before. These added costs and delays have made it much harder for UK hauliers to stay competitive in the European market, and many smaller companies simply can’t absorb the extra expenses. While domestic policies do play a role, Brexit is what has fundamentally changed the playing field for cross-border transport.

The "sick man of Europe". That is why the UK joined the EEC in the 1970's.

You are convinced, are you? What evidence do you base your opinion? Explain please.

@X5493-c7p It does not say it ALL! Did you see the full context of that interview in which Emily Maitlis asks him the question? Of course you didn't, your mind is just swimming in the right-wing twatosphere. Maitlis: Westminster or Davos? Starmer: Davos Maitlis: Why? Starmer: Because Westminster is too constrained. And you know, it’s closed and we’re not having meaning … Once you get out of Westminster, whether it is Davos or anywhere else, you can actually engage with people you can see working with in the future. Westminster is just a tribal shouting tribal place . This answer: is this evidence of Starmer being anti-British? Or is it evidence of a manipulation by the right ? Is taking a clip from an interview out of context in order to amplify misinformation considered evidence ?

@X5493-c7p You didn't answer my question: do you consider taking a clip from an interview out of context in order to amplify misinformation as evidence ? It says more about you than Starmer, doesn't it? Also X5493, don't you also consider equating a democratically elected politician, with a dictator known for such atrocities trivialises the suffering of millions and undermines serious political debate?

@X5493-c7p The typical right-wing response: distract, divert, and divide. Cluesless when asked to substantiate any of your claims because they are baseless!

@X5493-c7p Such is the mind of a conspiracist. Your thought-leaders taught you well, when you have not a scooby: distract, divert, and divide.
