To a parochial mind issues such as the Pro-Palestine and Ukrainian solidarity marches are "foreign issues" and they happen in "far away countries about which we know nothing" - to quote Chamberlain. But there are people concerned with the plight of humanity, and the destruction of the planet for profit. What is worrying is that you are not concerned with innocent children being bombed, and you keep it at a distance by calling it a "foreign issue".

You assume parents know the targets and the IDS have laser-guided missles. I said that caring about the deaths of Palestinian children really stems from human empathy, not political influence, and reflects the universal value of life. Dismissing their suffering dehumanises others, undermines compassion, and normalises violence, reducing our shared humanity. How can you justifiably say that I am a Hamas symapthiser? Do you think I could say the same about Israeli children? Of course I can! You say, why have I not mentioned this ... that ... the other ... That is mainly because I have a job!

@hazeyq4533 There is nothing more annoying than political clichés, which are often used by the right to silence protest. One common argument is that if you’re anti-capitalist, you shouldn’t buy anything, or if you’re an environmentalist, you should not only give up plastics, you should live in a hole in the ground. These clichés are as automatic as they are wrong. The assumption is that you’re a "hypocrite" if you deviate from the far-right narrative that minorities are “invaders,” thus justifying violence as a legitimate response.

You argue that if I believe in this principle, I should personally house an asylum seeker. I don’t think many of those who protested the murders of the girls in Stockport did so out of a genuine belief in the right to life; rather, it was an attempt to gain political capital from the tragedy. You badger me without knowing my personal context or the views of my wife. I know friends who housed Ukrainian refugees - and before you bring up ethnicity, Ukraine is a neighbouring country.
