But since we are on the subject of selling arms to Israel, the UK government says that UK defence exports to Israel are “relatively small”, amounting to £42 million in 2022. Since 2008, the UK has licenced arms worth over £574 million to Israel, according to analysis of Government export data by Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT). So what possible justification is there to continue to sell arms to Israel when over 33,000 people have died in Gaza since 7 October ?

OK, here is a simple answer to your simple question, but you have to first consider these questions. How would you react if you were treated as an inferior racial group and systematically deprived of your rights? How would you react if you there was discriminatory underinvestment in your communities? How would you react if you, your family and community were threatened, and tortured? How would you react if your home was bombed, and you were deprived of your land? How would you feel when your deprived homeland was built on by colonial settlers? And were you to leave, how would you feel about the denial of your right to return to your homeland? How would you react if your country’s right to self-determination and sovereignty was not recognised by many countries, including the USA, UK and 16 EU countries? Seriously, how would you react? Would you resist? A resistance movement to Israel’s state violence is entirely justified. However, the heinous act of terrorism of 7th October was neither proportionate nor justifiable. So how is it a justifiable response to a heinous act of terrorism to indiscriminate bomb heavily populated areas killing so far over 33,000 people?

Being a humanist that values life rather than a far-right populist that believes no life matters if not white? Accurate data on Gaza deaths is hard to come by. IDF will claim that the number of Hamas fighters killed is 12,000. The total number dead of over 33,000 come from Gaza's Health Ministry. On the question of proportionality, as I tried to write before, the IDF bombing is indiscriminate for maximum civilian deaths rather than attempts to target Hamas. Afterall, Hamas was propped up by Israel’s government, and it turned a blind eye to attacks and Quatari money entering Gaza. Surely Israel’s security forces could take Hamas.

The IDF is using unguided missiles, and “bunker busters” in heavily populated areas killing over 33,000 people. Explain how this is not genocide. You may prefer "ethnic cleansing”, or rendering an area ethnically homogeneous by using force or intimidation to remove from a given area persons of another ethnic or religious group . Which one do you prefer?

However, as of today (12th April 2024) an American independent NGO, Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) states that more than 34,000 have been killed since the war began on October 7—with more than 33,000 Palestinian deaths in Gaza and the West Bank and 1,200 deaths in Israel. So in your estimation, is there more accurate data than this? But don’t be distracted from the question as to explain why IDF bombing is not genocide, or which you prefer: ethnic cleansing or genocide .
