It's partly inflation, but a big reason is the Xylella fastidiosa bacterium devastating olive trees, especially in Italy. It’s wiping out groves, reducing harvests, and driving up prices. Sadly, supply shortages are making olive oil much more expensive worldwide.

Murphy should remember that Talk TV viewers are as dim as Toc H lamps, and should explain everything, even about how the NHS is funded, because people followers of populists lacking fundamental understanding.

Criticising the media for including left-wing perspectives while ignoring the blatant propaganda from many right-wing media channels seems unbalanced. Shouldn't media serve as a platform for diverse viewpoints rather than remaining mouthpieces for populist right-wing parties that defend capitalist class power? Genuine debate and critical engagement are essential for a healthy democracy.

@hellabella8295 Explain please how Murphy's idea of the economy is RIDICULOUS AND WRONG .

Does Murphy have to use "free at the point of use" . I would've thought that was obvious to anyone who knows what the NHS is! Also "free at the point of use" means anyone entitled to treatment and has a NI number.

Not necessarily. Printing money can be inflationary if it increases demand beyond what the economy can supply. But if there’s unused capacity (like high unemployment), it might not lead to inflation. Also, tax cuts for the wealthy are inflationary since they increase spending power for those who are less likely to save, adding to demand. So, ironically, voting Reform UK could actually increase inflation.

Because he doesn't talk like the bloke down the pub, is it Wayne? 🤣🤣

I am sure you can explain how Keynesian theory justifies government intervention during a recession, and the role of aggregate demand, the concept of sticky wages and prices, and the potential impact of fiscal policy on unemployment and economic growth. But for the rest of us, explain how Murphy is legendary for his ignorance of even the most basic economic principles .

Try using correct English - punctuation, capitalisation.

@andreaking7432 It’s true that the real divide is often between the working class and the wealthy elite. But that raises the question: why support parties like Reform UK, whose leaders are part of that elite and whose policies ultimately serve the capitalist class ? If we want to challenge inequality, we need to look beyond parties that protect the status quo and focus on those that genuinely advocate for the working class.

You must be a fool to conclude this.
