  1. In the 1930s, the Nazis implemented policies under the guise of economic efficiency and racial purity that included involuntary euthanasia of those they deemed "unworthy of life." These actions were justified by a twisted logic of saving resources for the "desirable" population. While I’m not suggesting that restricting NHS treatment to UK citizens is the same as what the Nazis did, the principle of denying care to vulnerable groups because they are seen as a financial burden has unsettling echoes of that era. The foundation of the NHS was of universal healthcare for all, and it still about protecting human dignity, regardless of nationality. Cutting off access to medical care for non-UK citizens may save some money in the short term, but it risks dehumanising people and undermining the ethical foundations of the NHS. We need to find solutions that preserve our humanity, not diminish it.
