  13.  @BasicLib  I regard Japan and Germany as a case of necessary occupation because...war. Yeah other cases of hegemony like S.Korea, Taiwan, etc worked out because of various factors... But for as long as I have been alive all the cases of an effort at an imposed imperialistic hegemony that I've seen have brought nothing but generational poverty, death and widespread suffering with all the power orders it disrupts that were built over generations and the power vacuums it creates. I'm of the opinion that regional powers should deal with their own problems and that every dominant regional power should own some nukes. MAD has worked pretty well so far. Cuz being reliant on one grand hegemony be it America or the Soviet Union is not sustainable because all empires inevitably...shrink. And when they do we saw what happened after the union fell. Hegemony, be it America in MENA or Russia and the the Soviet Union or France in the Sahel and Central Africa just drags unnecessary wars on and on and creates more problems than it solves them.

First of all, Afghanistan is suffering because all America did in its 20 years of occupation is create an aid dependent economy with extremely high corruption that it barely benefited the majority of Afghanis, most of who live outside the cities. Also Murica has thrown sanctions and sanctions on the Taliban government so much so that it financial sector has hit a standstill. It's banks are treasuries are just zombie institutions for the most part because of the sanctions. Two, yeah you and your Western hegemony bias still think that the West don't sponsor proxy wars? Guess who sells UAE and Saudi Arabia all those weapons and weapons components they're selling abroad? Interventionism always does more bad than good and is just an excuse for Western governments to funnel moneys into their military industrial complexes. In fact it is that interventionism by oblivious powers such as America that disrupts existing power structures and just fuck everything up. See Iraq, Afghanistan, etc Three, this whole argument is basically, "better the devil that has been drone striking dozens of countries all over than the angel you've never met." I for one support a decreasing Western military hegemony over the world and letting people sort out their own issues.

Economically...it would be rough but could be smoothened out with a little common good will(despite Kenya and Uganda's little trade wars), geographically, I don't see why not, politically tho, that's another story. Tanzania and Kenya have a love-hate relationship, where Tanzania had a protectionist President(Museveni RIP) who was constantly messing up commerce with Kenya and that left a bad taste in the mouths of both Kenyans and TZs...tho his replacement Pres. Suluhu has been more forthcoming and diplomatic, whether that will spread to the rest of the TZnian govt. remains to be seen. Speaking of TZian govt, it is a one party state and many of its opposition leaders have fled to hide in Kenya. Uganda has an autocratic leader committing crimes against humanity every year and his political opponents whenever threatened keep running for safety in Kenya. And also the autocratic regimes of Uganda(Museveni) and Rwanda(Kagame) have their own little beef that has been cooking up for decades now and then there's the thing between Rwanda and Congo as well. It's just, the political will to make this happen currently just isn't there in the moment, in the future however, late 2020's early 2030's that might change...
