  1. There is nothing wrong with 99 cents and more or Dollar Stores. If you do some comparison shopping, it's actually cheaper to buy food at these stores. Yes, some are more expensive, but if you pay attention to prices, you can save a lot of money (example, ketchup is $1.25 in 99 cents and more... it's $2+ in the supermarket... a bottle of cumin is $1.25 vs $3+ in supermarket... loaf of bread $1.25+ vs $2-$5+ depending on type... head of lettuce $1.25 vs $2... the list can go on and on).

  2. Let's be honest... supermarkets and WalMart is in business to do one thing, that's to make money. If they can't make money in a neighborhood, they'll find a place where they can. The reason why they can't make money... it's plain and simple, product theft.
