The Car Care Nut

Your last few statements lead me to think that these start/stop feature could contribute to fuel/oil dilution issues in cars. Everytime a car starts, they would squirt a little fuel to start the car... and when the car suddenly stops, potentially leaves some a tiny bit of unused fuel. Over time, this tiny bit of fuel gets mixed with gas, and if this happens over a period of time, then more fuel get's mixed with the oil The would anecdotally align with mechanics and OEMs telling people to take longer drives (vs a bunch of short drives while the engine is cold) to mitigate oil/fuel dilution issues.

I hate this feature with a passion. If there wasn't a disable feature for this, I will never buy a car with this feature. I would switch brands due to this feature.

So what I'm hearing is automakers purposely overly complicates a car for a feature that everyone hates, and provides minimal benefits. Sounds like another scam the OEMs built in for obsolescence and/or expensive repairs... so people have to buy a new car.
